Flowery Branch sits along the southern edge of Lake Lanier, and that setting has influenced residential development throughout the area.
Waterfront and lake-access properties can have a very different interior character from homes in established residential neighborhoods. Larger windows, open floor plans, natural materials, outdoor living areas, and spacious primary suites are common design considerations for properties built around the lake lifestyle.
That makes transparency especially valuable in the bathroom.
Clear frameless glass does not compete with tile, stone, wood finishes, or natural light. Instead, it allows those elements to remain visible through the shower.
In a bathroom with a carefully designed view or abundant daylight, minimizing unnecessary framing can make the entire space feel more connected.
An open shower does not necessarily mean leaving the entire wet area uncovered.
The enclosure can be planned around where water actually needs to be contained.
A fixed panel can create an open entry while shielding a nearby vanity or bathroom floor. A hinged door can provide a more enclosed configuration where the shower is positioned close to other fixtures. A wider enclosure may combine several panels to create separation without making the shower feel boxed in.
This is particularly useful in larger Flowery Branch bathrooms where homeowners want openness but still need practical water control.
The design should balance both.
A bathroom near Lake Lanier may have plenty of space, but the enclosure still needs to work around the features that make the room distinctive.
A custom shower may include:
Each feature can influence the placement and movement of the glass.
For homeowners considering custom glass enclosures, the objective is to make the glass work with these details rather than treating them as obstacles.
Different shower layouts call for different combinations of glass and hardware.
Shower Configuration | Glass & Hardware Direction | Suitable Flowery Branch Setting |
Wide walk-in shower | Heavy clear glass with minimal framing | Spacious primary suites |
Fixed panel + hinged door | Large stationary panel with coordinated hinges and handle | Open lake-home bathrooms |
Frameless slider | Broad clear panels with sliding hardware | Bathrooms with limited door-swing space |
Three-sided enclosure | Multiple fixed panels with hinged entry | Larger dedicated shower areas |
Corner enclosure | Custom panels with hinged or sliding entry | Established-home bathroom renovations |
Low-threshold enclosure | Fixed panels and carefully positioned entry | Comfortable-access and aging-in-place remodels |
Glass thickness should be determined according to the panel dimensions, configuration, hardware, and installation requirements rather than simply selecting the thickest available option.
A bathroom does not always need a complete renovation to look substantially different.
If the cabinetry, flooring, tile, and fixtures still work, the shower enclosure may be the logical place to begin.
Older framed doors can create a segmented appearance, especially when the bathroom already has several finishes competing for attention. Metal tracks and framing can also draw attention away from attractive tilework.
Replacing the existing system with custom frameless glass can simplify the visual field.
If your current enclosure is functional but outdated, explore glass shower door replacement as a focused way to refresh the bathroom.
Large bathrooms can accommodate substantial glass, but more glass does not automatically produce a better result.
The enclosure needs to relate to the scale of the bathroom.
A floor-to-ceiling configuration may create a dramatic architectural effect in a tall primary suite. In another bathroom, a slightly lower fixed panel may feel more balanced.
The location of the door matters as well.
The entry should provide comfortable access without creating conflicts with the vanity, toilet, tub, or bathroom doorway.
These choices are best made from the room outward.
A beautiful shower has to withstand daily use.
Water droplets, soap residue, body oils, and minerals can gradually affect the appearance of untreated glass. The amount of buildup can vary depending on the home’s water source and individual conditions.
Flowery Branch’s municipal water system serves the city, while surrounding properties can have different water arrangements. Rather than applying one generalized hardness figure to every home, homeowners should pay attention to what their own fixtures and wet surfaces reveal.
If faucets already develop noticeable deposits, shower-glass care deserves consideration during the design stage.
Protective treatment can be considered as part of a new shower installation rather than treated as an afterthought.
EnduroShield is designed to create a water-repellent surface on shower glass and help resist soap scum, grime, limescale, hard-water deposits, and other contaminants. The manufacturer says the treatment can reduce the effort involved in routine glass cleaning.
It is important to understand what the treatment does—and does not do.
EnduroShield does not eliminate cleaning or guarantee that glass will never spot. Instead, it helps contaminants resist bonding to the surface so routine maintenance can be easier. It can be professionally applied to new glass and is also available for suitable existing glass.
For a large Flowery Branch shower with extensive clear glass, that added protection can be worth discussing before fabrication.
New construction offers a blank canvas.
Renovations do not.
An existing Flowery Branch bathroom may have walls that are slightly out of square, older tile, an uneven threshold, or fixtures positioned according to a previous enclosure.
That does not automatically mean the bathroom needs to be rebuilt.
Custom measurement allows the enclosure to be planned around the actual opening. Where appropriate, the new glass can work with the existing tile and other finishes instead of requiring the entire room to be redesigned.
This is particularly valuable when homeowners want a more modern shower without turning a targeted upgrade into a full-scale renovation.
A shower should look good, but it also needs to feel natural to use.
The entry should be easy to reach. The door should move without interfering with other fixtures. The glass should provide appropriate water containment. Shelving, niches, and benches should remain accessible.
Even small decisions—such as whether the handle sits on one side of the door or where a fixed panel terminates—can affect everyday convenience.
Custom design provides more flexibility to make those decisions around the homeowner rather than around a standard enclosure.
DTS Glass & Mirror can help homeowners evaluate the enclosure around the bathroom’s actual dimensions, desired door operation, glass configuration, hardware, and maintenance requirements.

A fixed panel can create a more open shower entry while still directing water away from surrounding bathroom areas. Whether it works depends on the shower dimensions and spray pattern.
No. Large panels need to be appropriate for the enclosure dimensions, wall conditions, hardware, and installation requirements. A custom assessment helps determine the practical configuration.
In many cases, yes. The existing tile and surrounding finishes can be evaluated during measurement to determine whether a new frameless enclosure can be installed without a complete bathroom renovation.
A sliding enclosure may be an option where a hinged door would conflict with nearby fixtures or circulation. The opening must have enough space for the required sliding configuration.
No. The treatment helps reduce the adhesion of water-based contaminants and mineral deposits, but regular cleaning remains necessary.
Yes. The niche can be incorporated into the enclosure measurements so that the fixed panels and door work around its location.
Custom glass is particularly useful for non-standard openings because measurements can account for actual wall and tile conditions before fabrication.
Consider the other metal finishes already present in the bathroom, including faucets, cabinet pulls, lighting, and towel hardware. Coordinating these elements can give the finished enclosure a more intentional appearance.
An in-home assessment allows the bathroom opening, fixtures, tile, door clearance, desired glass configuration, hardware, and treatment options to be considered together before the enclosure is fabricated.

DTS Glass did an outstanding job from beginning to end creating a custom glass tub / shower door solution for one of my guest bathrooms after the Home Depot door I purchased and had installed by another party literally exploded causing tremendous damage. Little did I know that glass doors cannot be an out-of-the-box solution as it's very rare that walls are completely squared off. Rather, the correct approach which is what DTS does, is to come out to the home, measure and create a template and then cut glass to the specifics of the installation site. As a result, I now have a glass door system that cannot possibly shatter like the last one. Do yourself a favor and save yourself some money in the long-run and stay out of the big-box stores for this kind of stuff. Go with true craftsman and people of their word that will stand by their work like DTS Glass. I cannot recommend them highly enough.Posted on Google Chris MaurerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
